If I ever finish this dang thing, I’ll be posting my philosophical statement on music education.
This is basic premise of the essay: Why is it important for all music educators, regardless of specialty, to develop and maintain a high level of practical musicianship as it relates to singing and the ability to play a social instrument (i.e. piano, guitar, etc.)?
In it I’m supposed to include specific examples of how I will utilize the skills and knowledge I’ve gained so far in my future teaching. Also, I’m supposed to speculate the disadvantages of not possessing such skills.
So yeah, that’s that.
When I post it, I hope you can all gain something valuable from it that maybe you can apply in your own musical development, whether you’re an educator, professional musician, or casual listener.
