Vespertine Formations

This is a music-themed blog by The Man Octave (themanoctave.tumblr.com). I can't follow you back on this blog, but if I like your blog I'll follow you on my main.

I'm a Junior in college studying Instrumental and Vocal Music Education, with a primary on trumpet and an intended Jazz minor. My passion lies in Marching Band/Drum Corps, Jazz, and worship music, but I understand the importance of teaching all disciplines and all musical concepts. You can also view my online teaching portfolio by clicking the world icon below.

This blog will serve as a place to express my thoughts and share my love of music throughout my endeavors as a musician. Mostly, you'll just see pictures of instruments, but I like to post education related things as well. Enjoy!

The Battle of the Bands was so much fun! Tons of amazing talent, wish I could’ve seen the other 14 bands before finals hit. Everyone was going to stay at our guitarist’s house, but we also had some friends from out of town staying too so it would’ve been like 12 people staying in a 3 bedroom house… a little cramped, so I decided to trek 3 hours back home. Still had a blast though! Possibly playing with them more in the future. Everything went a lot better than I expected and I can’t wait to hear the results!

Just a little update on what I’ve been up to =P

Some people have been asking me what my uni’s show choir is like. Well, here’s the Ball State University Singers performing “I Surrender” at our 2.5 hour spring concert, Spectacular, a few months ago. We didn’t perform this at WCG this week, but it’s a very good representation of our show choir and what we do. We’ll be touring in China this upcoming November.

I play trumpet 2nd trumpet (split lead) in the band, but I do have some experience on guitar, and I’m a double major in Instrumental and Vocal Education as of this fall.

It’s funny the small compliments I live for. I never thought I would need to hear I was doing a good job.
